From the Editor: Let's Get a Little Crazy
Fri, 06/26/2009 - 10:49pm
My husband wants to celebrate our nation’s freedom by sneaking across the state line to purchase $79.99 worth of fireworks. What is about the month of July that makes people a little crazy? I have about 3 million things I could do with $79.99 and buying tiny and dangerous explosives wouldn’t be one of them.
Picket Fence Post: Embarrassing the Kids? It comes a little too easy for this mom
Fri, 06/26/2009 - 9:58pmI started to realize I’d already set foot on Mortification Road when my kids criticized my swimwear for being risqué. “You’ve got to cover that up,” my daughter said. Picket Fence Post: Free the Children!
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 1:51pm To give a child permission to go to the corner store or to play freely with her friends in the woods without supervision is now considered a borderline, risky decision, one fraught with anxiety and which necessitates that parents engage in an extensive cost-benefit analysis. And Parents who allow their kids to venture out and about freely face intense scrutiny.
Picket Fence Post: What do moms really want
Thu, 04/30/2009 - 3:47pmWhat do moms want for Mother’s Day? Well, P&K columnist Meredith O'Brien can tell you what they DON'T want. What moms are seeking is simple: Nonjudgmental support, enough confidence to tune out extraneous advice, a good laugh and a fine adult beverage.
Ages & Stages: Afraid of Living in Fear

I know it’s cliché to say that a person can’t appreciate certain things when they’re young, but I’m going to say it anyway because it’s true. Our young adulthood years are relatively free of adult-like worries.
