[...] Despite this initial resistance, my son has enjoyed his Super Why activity sheets for the past few days. I love it because it’s a no-brainer for me. My kids watch a 30-minute episode of Super Why and then we have some fun with the activity sheets I download directly from from the PBS web site. Suddenly I have a 45-minute lesson plan. This is especially important to me during the summer months when I don’t want to have my children’s brains turn to mush! (Read for background) [...]

Can't wait for your results- my 5 yr old daughter loves Super Why and often tells me her new name is Super Red. I've found that Sid the Science Kid(PBS) has been a great learning tool for her. In fact she's getting too smart from it- when asked to stay still(after watching the episode on how the body works) she frequently responds that her heart is beating and that makes her move so she can't stay still.

I'm so proud of my sixth grader! These projects teach the kids to speak publicly early on so they have no fear. It's great. One of the students in the class also saw a competitor and suggested a drop location for P&K. We like to start them early around here.

Oh my gosh!! I would have lost my mind. I'm thoroughly impressed with your ability to 'maintain calm and composure' in the heat of crisis and panic to get kids to the ER!! Amazing. Glad your little gal will be AOK after some lovely pain meds and some well-deserved time 'scaring' her brother with her spooky eye! :)

Heather,

What an awful story! Is she still in pain? Does she have an eye patch? If she does, maybe you and Lisa could come up with any all-siblings' craft project to bejewel eye patches for her, so she could have a different one for each day, to match her outfit.

That makes me crazy when I lose things like that, spend all this time and energy and worry looking for them only to go to bed fretting. At least almost all of the items returned.

For several weeks in the fall I couldn't find my 10-year anniversary ring from my husband (didn't tell him though, and he didn't notice). He would've been extremely disappointed. It turned up underneath random kids' papers which had piled up on my bureau.

Fingers crossed for the ring!!
